With over 90 years of History and advocates including the likes of Elvis, James Dean and more recently Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson, Black and White wax is definitely a classic in the men’s grooming world
Over the years I have tried and tested a lot of products on my hair, from gels to waxes, pomades to styling pastes trust me I have tried them all. From this extensive trial and testing I have developed a stubbornness when it comes to my hair styling product choices and having found products and brands that work it isn’t often that I will deviate away from what I know. However having been approached by Black and White Wax and knowing the history behind them I was excited to give them a try.
Black and White were kind enough to send me their Genuine Pluko Hair Dressing Pomade and when it arrived and I opened the lid the first thing that stuck me was the smell….and not in a bad way. The smell is sweet and fresh and reminds me of a traditional Barber Shop. So far so good!
The application of the product is simple as you would expect and after scooping a generous helping I spread it evenly over my hands and fingers before applying to my hair. I am pleased to report the fresh smell stuck around for a while once applied which is a great bonus! As far as the feel in my hair it took a while to dry but once it did it gave me the Matte look which I usually sport. The hold is also adequately strong for my hair length (Medium – Short) and kept my hair in place for the whole day without any issues.
The product is quite dense and as a result washing the residue off your fingers is not the easiest task. However this is really just a niggle and this is definitely not as bad as I have experienced with other products.
In conclusion I join the likes of Johnny Depp as a fan the product and I can see why it has remained at the forefront of men’s hair styling for so many years.
